February 2010 – Courtroom Dramas
On 17 February 2010 Barry and Danvers will be discussing how tech companies can avoid commercial disputes and how to resolve them when avoidance doesn’t work.
Drawing on our experiences of fighting and dodging commercial disputes, we’ll be talking about the typical disputes involving small tech companies and how they can be resolved at an early stage. We’ll also outline what happens when legal proceedings do start, including the nuts and bolts of timing and cost.
As usual the format will be:
6.30pm – Doors open, beer and networking
7pm – Legal bit plus Q&A
8pm – More beer and networking, plus pizza.
9pm – Pub
Barry’s speaking notes from the event are below, and if you want to learn more about the Sky v EDS case, you can read the whole judgment here – it’s only 2350 paragraphs long, but the judge considers the evidence of Galloway at paragraphs 174-196, which is an entertaining read (at least we think so).
