October 2011: Selling to a Corporate – the view from the other side

On 19 October, we’re delighted to welcome Tim Bratton, General Counsel of the Financial Times, back to Bootlaw to talk about deals with early stage companies from the point of view of the buyer. Tim will mainly be discussing M&A deals based on his experiences at the FT of acquiring companies over the last 3 or 4 years. He will look at the issues which came up both during due diligence and during the deal process generally, and what sellers can do to prepare for an exit, to make the process run more smoothly. At the FT, Tim also works on deals where small companies are selling their products and services and he will share some tips on how you can make sure your company sails through the legal process – or at least does not get bogged down at that stage, when doing commercial deals with big companies.

Since appearing as a guest speaker at Bootlaw nearly two years ago (in November 2009), Tim has embraced social media and tweets at @legalbrat and blogs about life as an in-house lawyer at thelegalbratblawg.

UPDATE: As promised, here are Tim’s slides from the evening (edited to remove some photos, not licenced for web distribution)
